Masters Australian Football

If you love your footy but are getting too old to keep up with the young blokes, then this is the game for you, AFL Masters, formally known as Super Rules.
In Vic Country, AFL Masters is for players over 30 years of age who enjoy their footy and want to keep playing in a non-competitive environment. There have been modifications to the rules to reduce the
risk of injury.
The Victorian Country competition involves teams from all over country Victoria, with games played every second weekend, mostly on Sunday.
The Ballarat Masters Football Club competes in the Vic Country division of AFL Masters Football and plays throughout Victoria.
The BMFC promotes a family friendly environment and at each home game supports a variety of local health and community issues.

History of Superules
Superules was conceived from the idea for players, 35 years and over, being able to continue playing the sport they love, but without the heavy commitment required during their earlier days in the sport. Superules was formulated in the country areas of Victoria by founder John Hammer and other like minded football fanatics during the 1980 season.

Ballarat Masters Football Club
Superules started in Ballarat in 1980 when a match was held between Ballarat and Wimmera as a curtain raiser for the Ballarat Football League Grand Final.
Since then the Ballarat Masters Football Clun has continued to grow. Whilst the Club struggled for numbers at different times, we now enjoy a large membership base.
Throughout the years many players have played for the Ballarat team, some lasting one or two seasons, others going onto achieve Life Membership status.
Whilst the Masters competition isn’t supposed to be as serious as local football, Ballarat has had an array of coaches with a diverse assortment of experience and football knowledge.

Now based between the Eastern Oval and Whiteflat, Ballarat has been located at a number of different venues throughout its history.
